An 18 vote majority "is more than George W. Bush ever had in the Senate when he did whatever the f*** he wanted to do. In fact, the Democrats have a greater majority than the Republicans have had since 1923."

WHY are my fellow Dems such Chicken Littles? They should forget Lieberman and the Blue Dogs and pass the public option. Fifty-one Senate votes is all it takes.

if the democratic party would finally grow a pair they would tie up the confirmation for 8 months like the repubs did with franken. or will they cave in again, get brown confirmed asap and let the repubs trample them yet again? i am so bitter they are in the process of blowing a once in a lifetime opportunity of having the presidency and both sides of congress with a supermajority!!! a year ago they should have decided amongst themselves whether they had the votes and will power for true health care reform instead of wasting ALL their political capital and time...and ending up with NOTHING!! and you know damn right if the repubs were in the dems position they would have definitely ignored the filibuster rule at least 10 months ago.
its even more critical the dems turn this ship around now, if not to save the party but to save our country, because the replacement isnt just republicans but far right wing teabagging neo-con republican extremists.

One of the things I like about Obama is his calmness. I agree with you that the Democrats have problems, but I don't see this as dramatically as you do. Let's stop pandering to former-Democrat Lieberman and giving the Blue Dogs more power than they deserve and deal with health care, the economy and all that without so much horse trading.

Maybe Democrats have to understand that 51-49 is policy. (Even 50-51 if that is what GW Bush did.)
I agree 100%, John, Why not let the Republicans filibuster if they want?
